Shekvetili

Where pines whisper above Black Sea sands

Shekvetili

Shekvetili is Guria's quietest stretch of coast, a narrow beach backed by dense pine forest that keeps the air cool and scented even in August. The trees grow almost to the water's edge, their roots exposed in the sandy cliffs. Nearby, the Tsitsinatela amusement park and open-air concert venue—built by local oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili—draws summer crowds for festivals, yet the beach itself remains surprisingly empty. Gurians, known throughout Georgia for their wit and dialect, have summered here for generations. The combination of wild forest, calm sea, and unexpected cultural infrastructure makes Shekvetili a rare case where nature and programmed entertainment coexist without either overwhelming the other.
