Black Sea Arena

Where mountains meet music by the sea

Black Sea Arena

Black Sea Arena is Georgia's largest open-air concert venue, carved into a hillside near Shekvetili where the Lesser Caucasus foothills tumble toward the Black Sea coast. Opened in 2016 with a concert by Georgian piano legend Beka Gochiashvili, it was conceived as a cultural anchor for the Lazika-Georgia New City development project. The amphitheater seats 10,000 and has hosted global acts including Aerosmith, The Killers, and Plácido Domingo alongside major Georgian festivals. Its architectural power lies in the raw contrast: brutalist concrete terraces framed by subtropical vegetation, with sea breezes carrying sound across the bowl. This is not a polished European opera house—it is Georgia's ambition made concrete, a place where post-Soviet space meets international touring culture in a setting of humid, verdant drama.
