Gudamakari Range

Where Georgia's wild mountains breathe

Gudamakari Range

The Gudamakari Range is a fierce, untamed ridge in Khevi province, thrusting east from the main Caucasus crest toward the Aragvi River. Its granite spires and hanging valleys have shepherded Svan and Khevsur herders for centuries, their stone shelters still dotting the high pastures. Ancient trails connect remote villages where Orthodox Christianity met pagan survival. This is trekking without infrastructure—no ski lifts, no marked paths, just vertical relief that demands respect. Serious hikers come for the traverse to Roshka or the climb to 3,300-meter passes, rewarded with solitude that feels earned.
