Zurgulidzhe

Where canyon winds meet village stone

Zurgulidzhe

Zurgulidzhe sits at the threshold of Okatse Canyon, a 3-6 km limestone gorge carved by the Okatse River, with its famous hanging walkway suspended 140 meters above the valley floor. Once a quiet Imeretian farming settlement, the village has become the essential base for exploring this dramatic landscape without the tour-bus crush of better-known sites. Its wooden houses and garden plots of corn and tea descend to canyon viewpoints where morning mist rises through old-growth yew and boxwood forest. The village offers direct trail access to the canyon's less visited sections and connects to broader hiking routes through the Nakerala Pass.
