Why go
Lebukhva perches at altitude in Racha's high reaches, a village of scattered stone houses where alpine meadows press against dark forest. For generations, locals drove livestock to these pastures, and the village remains a working highland settlement rather than a tourist stop. Trails climb through beech woods and open slopes where shepherds still graze cattle in summer, with views over the upper Rioni country toward the main Racha ridge. Lebukhva offers no tourist infrastructure, only the authentic highland Georgia that hikers seek: working villages, unmarked paths, and silence broken by cowbells.
